qpryoshikaru:

really liked this bit from the new interview:

From the original article. ALT
From Google Translate. It reads: Mokumoku Ren: I think that in stories, especially beings like Hikaru who take over people, usually end up as the enemy, disappear, or pass away. I've always hated that, and wanting to read stories that put people outsiders was one of the starting points for this work. Even in "Beauty and the Beast," the Beast turning back into a human at the end was a huge shock to me as a child. I was like, "Wow, he's turned back into a human" (laughs). I wish he had stayed the way he was.ALT

like yeah, of course, the author would be exactly the kind of person who’d prefer that the beast stay a beast. that makes perfect sense

I honestly dont think whether Hikaru¹ is even still alive somewhere in Hikaru² makes a huge difference to how Yoshiki views Hikaru². Its been made pretty clear that Yoshiki understands that Hikaru¹ is gone. Its not about struggling with losing Hikaru¹ - its about struggling with loving “Hikaru”.
